Who we are

Ka Lei Haliʻa O Ka Lokelani is a Hawaiian cultural organization and hālau hula rooted in the values of aloha, haʻahaʻa, and ʻohana. Founded in 2009 in Aloha, Oregon, our work is guided by a deep commitment to ʻike Hawaiʻi, ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, and the responsibility to carry culture with integrity beyond our ancestral homelands.

Through hula, language, and cultural education, we create spaces where ʻike kūpuna is honored, lived, and shared across generations. Our hālau nurtures haumāna to understand not only movement and chant, but the history, ʻike, and kuleana carried within each mele and hula. We believe hula is a living archive—one that connects land, people, and story.

Ka Lei Haliʻa O Ka Lokelani also serves the broader community through education, outreach, and advocacy, partnering with schools and organizations to uplift Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander voices. We are dedicated to cultivating cultural pride, leadership, and belonging, while honoring the lands and communities we now call home in the Pacific Northwest.

We exist to ensure that Hawaiian culture remains vibrant, relevant, and rooted—so that future generations may walk confidently in their identity, guided by aloha and ʻike.
