We are Ka Lei Hali'a O Ka Lokelani (The cherished ones of the yellow rose); a hula halau (hula school) located in Aloha/Hillsboro Oregon. Our purpose is to perpetuate and educate the community of the Hawaiian culture through song, dance, and language. In 2018, KLOKL celebrated a decade of sharing hula throughout the community. Our Halau strives to carry on the traditions of our kupuna and create a feel of home right here in Oregon.
About our Instructor & Founder

Leialohaokeanuenue Ka'ula was born on the island of O'ahu. At the age of 8 she moved to the island of Hawai'i with her family and will always be her home. Growing up on the island of Hawai'i allowed her to embrace the culture and apppreciate the pure beauty that Hawai'i has to offer.

Leialoha, born into a hula and entertaining family, has been dancing hula since the age of 3 and found her love for hula early on.

She is a graduate of Ke Kula 'O Nawahiokalani'opu'u, class of 2001; Hawaiian Immersion Intermediate & High School, located on the island of Hawai'i. Through her years of hula and the opportunity to have the privilege of attending Nawahi, Lei is able to teach and share with her Halau the Hawaiian culture through language, song and of course, hula.

In 2008 she began her quest to find a Halau here in Portland, OR. Through her journey, Lei found her calling and founded Ka Lei Hali'a O Ka Lokelani in May of 2009. It is through Lei's love and passion for hula that she will continue to share the Hawaiian culture.
